December and the festive season is upon us. For those of you travelling far and wide, take us with you. We're completely portable as the website automatically resizes to any screen size - even on your mobile phone! Explore our beautful country and discover the rich history and magnificent places you didn't know existed. Drive safely.

We spent 10 days filming the last few passes in the Garden Route during November and introduce you to an exceptionally scenic pass, that offers some big climbs, sharp corners and views to truly take your breath away and this one is close to Knysna in the very heart of the Garden Route in a world of butterflies, lakes, forests, beaches and mountains. And you can drive it in any car!

The website currently has 580 passes listed. We still have approximately another 120 waiting to be produced and we estimate that the site should reach 100% completion about this time next year. The rate of submissions has started slowing down somewhat, which is a sure indicator that we have swept properly. So what will we do when there are no new passes to film? Well, we'll probably start refilming some of the first ones over again to get them up to the latest standards and maintenance and editing on ever changing facts and data on the passes is an ongoing project. Plus there is the project of writing the book on the passes, which many of you have requested.

Each year in December we take stock and take a critical look at our achievements, successes and failures and we are proud to announce that this has been our most productive year to date and also the year we managed to completely revamp the website to the very latest standards. There have been great stories in SA4x4 and The Argus covering the project and our readership is steadily growing with current figures at 60,000 page views per month. Our Facebook is extremely popular averaging 12000 views per post.

During November we filmed 15 new passes in the Southern Cape and our featured pass today links Knysna with the villages on the Western Heads. Enjoy it - we certainly did!

A good map is a thing of beauty that can transport you into the mists of time or get your sense of adventure churning. It is a place to make discoveries about deserts and seas, mountains and lakes; of roads leading into places you have not been before; a place to pore over holiday destinations or weekend camping trips. A map is your window to the world.
